Keeping Seeff towns warm this winter

To keep warm a heart in winter is the real victory.

As the mist rolls in over the iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town one cannot but pull up a chair, grab a warm cup of hot chocolate and snuggle up under a blanket in front of the winter fireplace. This sure sounds like the prefect description of a truly cold Cape Town winter but unfortunately this is not the reality for many people and animals during these cold winter months.

One sometimes can easily forget those less fortunate not having the pleasure of a warm blanket or beverage during these times. This is exactly why everyone at Seeff offices in the areas of Brackenfell, Kraaifontein, Kuils River, Ceres, Croydon & De Wijnlanden, Darling, Lamberts Bay, Elands Bay, Franschhoek, Langebaan, Malmesbury, Paarl, Paternoster, Riebeek Valley, Saldanha, St Helena Bay, Stellenbosch, Tulbagh, Velddrif, Vredenburg, Wellington, Worcester and Yzerfontein decided they want to make a difference in the lives of all with our Seeff Winter Blanket Drive.

What started of as a support campaign to those less fortunate soon turned into an attempt of world records as blankets started pouring in from far and wide. Local community knitters literally took at their knitting and crocheting needles and started turning yarn into blankets. Local business started putting up Seeff receptacle bins to collect blankets on behalf of branches and soon suppliers and service deliver companies to branches started arriving with latterly bakkie loads of warm blankets in all shapes and sizes.

Newspapers started writing about the drive and radio stations started broadcasting our message of hope and warm far and wide. To top off the best was when a local South African band announced that they will be playing show in the Paarl area and are encouraging locals to bring blankets for the drive. One thing is for sure that the warm hearts of locals will soon be warming up those of the less fortunate and for that we at Seeff can only but say thank you. Once again South Africans have showed that they care, and boy do they care. In the iconic words of the late beloved Mother Teresa “I want you to be concerned about your next-door neighbour. Do you know your next-door neighbour?” Isn’t it time that we get to know our next-door neighbours especially those less fortunate and add some warm to their winter?

Should you wish to make a contribution to our Seeff Winter Blanket drive you can contact any of the above-mentioned branches for assistance or mail André Pentz on andre.pentz@seeff.com for more information. If you unable to physical donate a blanket by visiting our offices, you are more than welcome to contact us for banking details and we will gladly purchase a blanket on your behalf to add to our stock pile.
