Seeff Midlands: Committed to creating change the community

Upliftment of the community is an essential part of the Seeff ethos. Seeff Midlands is proud to contribute to empowering and encouraging others in the community.

The Midlands are a beautiful and scenic part of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa, stretching from the base of the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains in the west to the Kwa-Zulu Natal coast in the east.

The Midlands take you on a journey where you can discover crystal-clear streams and verdant valleys, as well as lush vegetation and indigenous forests. The Midlands offers its residents a peaceful and tranquil way of life in natural and scenic surroundings, where taking an early morning walk or a gentle horse ride before the world is awake is a favourite past time, as are hiking, adventure sports, and birdwatching.

It is easy to become immersed in the richness of the culture of the Midlands, which is well known for its artists, art galleries, museums, local crafts, beautiful game reserves, gorgeous coastline, Drakensberg, and fabulous cuisine.

It is easy to be captivated by the richness and diversity of the Midlands and, in so doing, miss the local community and the network of support that is the backbone of the Midlands community. This is the fibre that holds the essence of a supportive community living close to the hearts of its residents.

At the centre of this community is Seeff Midlands, which has been involved in the area since 2008, contributing and committing help and exceptional service to the residents of Hilton, Howick, the Midlands, and Nottingham Road.

As part of their central role in the area is their commitment to the upliftment and support of the community, which is an essential part of the Seeff Group ethos.

Seeff Midlands is proud to contribute to the empowerment of people and encourage others in the Midlands community to do the same, ensuring that community engagement continues to make a difference in the lives of those around them. Seeff Midlands is mindful that without positive and on-going participation and commitment, this is not possible, and that this includes being active supporters of local initiatives, events, and activities.

Close to their hearts is the ‘Salvation Army of the Midlands’, whose slogan is “love beyond hunger,"  an apt ethos for an organisation that is designed around supporting families in need. They offer hunger relief programmes and aim to assist in overcoming poverty. They also offer various youth programmes, worship services, emergency financial assistance, and disaster services.

During the course of the year, Seeff Midlands establishes a collection point at their main office in Hilton. During these times, they encourage local residents and members of the community to contribute in any way, which could be through the donation of clothing, toys, or daily necessities. The collected items are then delivered to the "Salvation Army" for distribution.

Seeff Midlands also supports iThemba Projects, who believe that it is through the support of local businesses committed to sustainable community development that change is possible. iThemba Projects was created to support the semi-rural community of Sweetwaters, situated approximately 5 kilometres outside the town of Hilton.

Potential was recognised in the community, and iThemba Projects was created to help overcome some of the challenges that the community faces, including a high unemployment rate, poverty, a lack of services, and childcare. Projects include mentoring, early child development, nutrition, and construction. They also have education programmes, host children's camps, and assist with birthday parties and baptisms.

iThemba Projects also organises events in the community where residents can become involved to raise funds. This close sense of community commitment in the Midlands contributes towards upliftment and the creation of positive change in the area.

Contact Seeff Midlands to find out more about these community upliftment programmes and how you can assist and donate towards these causes.
